2017 So Far
It has been some time since my last blog post so I figured it’s time to share a few thoughts while catching my breath before the next frenzy of activity.
Business is booming! No seriously, the numbers are in and they aren’t too shabby-55% growth in the first half of 2017! That growth is evidence that our entire team is putting forth maximum effort.
It’s amazing to see the growth of the organization firsthand. The constant grind of travel, meetings and the proverbial burning fires has a way of detracting from the organization’s accomplishments; or at least celebrating them for more than a few minutes.
At the beginning of 2017, we identified four strategic initiatives ranging from internal operations to national business development through strategic partnerships. Four-person teams were created to spearhead each initiative to ensure resources were allocated to effectively make or break each idea. The results have been very positive so far. Three of the initiatives have far exceeded expectations while one is still gaining a foothold.
Giving back
It’s no secret that we love giving back to the community as much as possible. The team worked in the sweltering heat to build two Habitat for Humanity homes earlier in the summer. Seeing the effort and the enthusiasm for helping others was truly a sight to behold. Helping others is a top priority at RDS; whether that’s accomplishing professional or personal goals, we don’t care!
Having fun
The fun things we get to do is the best part of our job. Our recent biannual business review culminated with a charter fishing trip with Bayou Charters. The weather was spectacular and the fishing great. Like our community service efforts, I’m always looking forward to our next adventure as a team.
Giving back and having fun is what we do at RDS. The people that makeup RDS are the number one priority. We appreciate, respect and could not do what we do without our customers. However, the operation of our business is a means to an end and I love our end.
I can’t wait to see what the second half 2017 ends up looking like, but in the meantime, back to the grind, or in the words of Adam Osthed, “Embracing the Struggle”!
